Warehouse storage and pre-pull near the Port of Oakland
If your dock isn't ready before the last free day, we pull the container from the Oakland terminal and hold it, or receive the cargo into our warehouse and deliver it when you need it.
When free time and your dock don't line up
Containers get a limited number of free days at an Oakland terminal. After that, storage charges start. At the same time, your warehouse may be full, your receiver may not have an appointment open, or the cargo isn't needed for another week.
Instead of paying the terminal to hold the box, let us hold it. We pull the container before the last free day, keep the cargo near the port, and deliver when you're ready.
Your options
- Pre-pull and hold. We pull the container from OICT, TraPac or Everport before free time ends and hold it until delivery.
- Warehouse storage. We unload the container into our warehouse, return the empty, and release the cargo on your schedule.
- Transload. We unload the container and load your carrier's trailer for the next leg. See transload in Oakland.
If you're not sure which option fits, tell us how long the cargo will wait and where it goes next. We'll suggest the simplest one.
Watching the last free day
We track the last free day on every container. Oakland terminals are checked throughout the day, and boxes close to their last free day are flagged each morning. That gives you time to make a choice before charges start.
Holds matter too. A container on a customs or line hold can't leave the terminal, even for a pre-pull. We check holds before dispatching and tell you when one is blocking a move.
Receiving and release
Cargo coming into our warehouse is photographed at receiving. Cargo going out is photographed at release. You can release in full or in parts, to one address or several.
Export cargo
Storage isn't only for imports. If export cargo arrives before the container is ready, or before the terminal's receiving window opens, we can hold it and load it when the timing works. See export drayage.
One team, from terminal to warehouse to dock
The same team pulls the container, stores the cargo, and makes the final delivery. There's no handoff between a trucker and a separate warehouse, and no "let me check with the other company." See our Oakland drayage.
Shipping through the Gulf too? We offer the same service in Texas. See warehouse and pre-pull in Houston.
Frequently asked questions
What does pre-pull mean in Oakland?
We pull your container from the Oakland terminal before its last free day so terminal storage charges don't start, then deliver it when your dock is ready.
Can you store cargo instead of the container?
Yes. We can unload into our Oakland-area warehouse, return the empty, and release the cargo when you need it.
Can you pre-pull a container that's on hold?
No. A container on a customs or line hold can't leave the terminal. We check holds before dispatch and tell you when one is blocking a move.
Do you hold export cargo before loading?
Yes. If export cargo arrives early, we can hold it and load the container when the timing works for the vessel cutoff.
